Congratulations to former Delaware District and Delaware Tennis Foundation President Richard Emmert who will be played for the United States on the US Gardnar Malloy Cup for men 80 and over on grass courts in Perth, Australia, at the ITF Senior World Team Championships, November 2-7. Emmert is top ranked in the 80 and over category in the USA. He will be honored at the Delaware District Annual Meeting and Award Ceremony on January 10th at Bellevue Mansion.
Come play in the Fall Turkey Challenge on November 21st from 5:00-8:30pm at the Brandywine Racquet Club sponsored by the WTCNCC. It is a womens Round Robin for 2.5-4.0 players. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Go to www.wtcncc.org to register.
Nominations are now being accepted for the Jaeger Murray Scholarship Award. This $450 scholarship is for a current high school senior who plays on his/her high school tennis team and plans to continue tennis either at the club or varsity level in college. Congratulations to Goldey Beacom College on a number of honors. Head Coach Joe Kissel was named CACC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row, the womens team is now ranked #7 in the nation for Division II in the entire NCAA East Region, sophomore Marina Sales was named to the All CACC second team, and freshmen Blanca Sancho and Vanessa leon Velasquez received honorable mentions.

Tennis legends Kim Clijsters and Martina Navratilova visited Wilmington, DE during Delaware World Team TennisWeek this July. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Freedoms, Navratilova conducted a tennis clinic at DuPont Country Club while Clijsters gave tips and played doubles with 12 lucky winners. Delaware tennis fans young and old were thrilled with the opportunity to meet these two tennis greats. Over 50 people came out to the Delaware Tennis Center on July 23 to meet Kim Clijsters and try for a chance to play tennis with her.
